I wonder if anyone has ever thought about teaching the homeless bushcraft ? I think that I may could support that, you know, give classes that anyone can attend and have some food for after the class. That way, those that like the homeless life can learn valuable knowledge that they can use. Just a thought.

Well, so many focus on GIVING them food, GIVING them a place to stay, GIVING them clothes. I feel that money would be better spent on teaching them to get a job, or other skills, the only difference is that now these classes, well anyone can take them. I feel that a lot of the homeless are that way by choice at least the choices they have made.

The whole give a man a fish feed for a day, teach a man to fish and feed for his life. I just get tired of seeing hand outs, knowledge is about the only hand out that I agee with, mainly because that knowledge has to be earned, you can't just bestow it upon a person. I take it with your post you are ok with just giving housing, good, clothing out ?

kind of, first off, everybody is eligible for 72 hour emergency relief. no exceptions 2nd, during that period, your id is checked, background checked, drug tested if clean and green, then you should be eligible for a cot in a shelter, these shelters are not hotels, big room with cots, no privacy, no tv, just a bed and shitter/shower/washer/dryer you have 1 mth per year at the shelter during that mth, if you get a job, your granted more time. if no job, your out on the street
i believe in helping those that help themselves, if you dont want a job, go sleep in a field i do not care. i will not spend money on someone who chooses to be a bum, if thats what they want. go live in the woods and chase rats.

Why not put the homeless in some of the many abandoned homes in Jackson. Put their "benefits" towards electricity and water. Then they could work towards ownership by repairing and maintaining the property and doing city work, (litter pickup, grass trimming, etc), around the neighborhood. It would be cheaper than subsidizing rent payments and their groceries are already paid for for the most part.

[ i have thousands invested in my tools, but i am an idiot for working] and a caddie to go to church in i thought the whole idea was to get them back into society to do for them selves not cradel to grave gravy train
